郭秉文(1880—1969)，字鸿声，江苏江浦人，早年卒业于上海清心书院，1908年赴美留学，1914年获哥伦比亚大学教育学博士学位；回国即参与“南高”创办，先后任南京高等师范学校教务主任、校长和东南大学校长。他是在国际舞台上最为活跃的中国教育家，20世纪20年代，他连续3次作为中国首席代表出席世界教育会议，并连续3次被推举为世界教育会副会长。
